Who Can Absentee Vote in Kansas?

Any registered voter may opt to vote by absentee ballot.

How Can I Acquire an Absentee Ballot?

Those voters who are interested in voting absentee in an election should contact their county election officer to request an application for an advance voting ballot. The application must be completed and returned to the county election officer no later than the Friday before the election. Ballots can be mailed out to voters starting 20 days before the election.

A voter may also apply for and vote an absentee ballot in person in the county election office starting the Tuesday before election day, or up to 20 days before the election, depending on the county (voters should contact their county election office for more information).

How do I Return the Absentee Ballot and What is the Deadline?

All ballots that have been sent through the mail must be returned to the county election office by the close of polls on election day in order to be counted. The ballot may be returned by mail or in person.

The deadline for advance voting in person is noon on the day before the election.
