What is Activote?
ActiVote America is a
non-profit grassroots organization committed to a non-partisan approach that EDUCATES adults, new citizens and children in our country
about the function and process of government; provides resources for learning
about political candidates, understanding political issues and how these issues
may affect their lives; and reminds Americans of the significance of using
their voice to make a difference by exercising their RIGHT TO VOTE in local and national elections.
The goal of ActiVote America is to EMPOWER
all citizens through education, information and voter registration, and to
prompt voters to go to the polls.
Since 2003 ActiVote America has registered
more than one million voters throughout the country. We have also educated
millions of people through field representatives across the country and
countless volunteers who distribute literature and offer classroom instruction.
ActiVote has partnered with colleges to
register student voters, and has had a significant presence at major events
throughout America where it has provided information and opportunities for
voter registration.
ActiVote has worked in the inner cities to
give disenfranchised individuals opportunities to learn about government,
national and local issues and their voting rights.
Partnering with companies like AOL Latino and
Univision Communications, the premier Spanish-language media company in the
United States, ActiVote America has reached out to the Hispanic population
across the country to ensure that each eligible voter has the information
needed for VOTER
REGISTRATION, and opportunities to understand the issues.
ActiVote America has worked with the Juvenile
Justice Department to get at-risk kids involved in civic activities.
In many communities, ActiVote America has
provided transportation to the polls for national and local elections.
Headquartered in Tampa, Florida, ActiVote
America is a national organization with representatives in every region of the
country. We’re there to help neighbors understand their local issues and TAKE ACTION,
while at the same time providing tools and educational materials to local
people that address national political issues.
In the United States today, fewer than 70% of
adults, age 18 and older are registered to VOTE. Americans in neighborhoods throughout the
country have the opportunity and the authority to give America back its voice
by participating in the democratic process. ActiVote America is committed to
showing them the way.
ActiVote America is devoted to DEMOCRACY
for America and its people and dedicated to helping strengthen our country's VOICE
one vote at a time.
